“Ahhhhhh!” yawned Dianne and Lauren the next morning.
“Lauren, why don’t we go to the new spa store in town?” asked Dianne.
“Why not? We just have to ask the queen.” answered Lauren.
Lauren and Dianne took a bath, changed their clothes, and went downstairs to have breakfast. After breakfast they went to the throne room to talk to the queen.
“Mother, may Dianne and I go to town? We want to visit the new spa store.” asked Lauren.
“Yes, yes, of course.” answered the queen with a shiver.
“Would you like some hot tea, queen.” asked a maid
“Yes, that would be wonderful.” answered the queen. And she walked to the tea room.
Lauren and Dianne excitedly walked to the front of the castle where a carriage was waiting. As they rode to town Lauren noticed everyone was bowing to her. Lauren remembered when she was little, that she always bowed to the princess when she passed by.
Now she was the princess!
Finally the carriage stopped and Lauren and Dianne got out and walked into the new spa store. The spa store was called “Get the Look!” It was a place where men and women could get their hair, face, nails, and body ready for a ball or a date. You could also buy the stuff they used.
Lauren and Dianne had a hard time deciding what to do first. When they finally did, they got in line. While Lauren was waiting in line, someone put a hand on Lauren’s shoulder. Lauren turned around and in front of her was a boy.
The boy then said, “Hello Princess Lauren! You’re the prettiest princess I have ever seen.”
Lauren, shocked said, “Thank you Mr., Mr….”
“Logan. Just Logan” Answered Logan.
That night Logan took Lauren to “Pete’s Pizzeria.” Logan bought a cheese pizza and as they ate they talked. Logan and Lauren loved each other very much.
Later that night they had a feast. And while they were eating they watched their band. All the maids were busy with cooking and delivering the food. They were even dressed up! Lauren and Dianne were wearing their best dresses.
After dinner and when the band was finished, the queen came on stage and said, “May I have your attention.”Everyone got quiet and looked at the queen. The queen then continued talking, “I have a surprise,”
Everyone started whispering.
Dianne whispered, “I like surprise. I wonder what it could be.”
Lauren answered, “I like them to.”
Then the queen said, “We are going to have a play!”
Everyone clapped and cheered. While they watched the play, Kit, one of the maids, served cookies to everyone. After the play, all of the guests went home and everyone in the castle went to bed.
But Lauren and Dianne had a little trouble. They talked for a long time until they finally decided that they better go to sleep.
Lauren woke up early and put on a tea outfit. She was wearing a bow, blue sweater, a black and white zig-zag skirt, white socks, and black boots. Lauren went downstairs and checked to see if everything was ready.
The tea was boiling, the tea treats were on the table, and the tea room was decorated. Then Lauren remembered Chrissa. She went to the queen and asked,
“Mother, may Chrissa come to tea?”
The queen answered, “Why not? She can come if she wants.”
Lauren went upstairs to Chrissa and told her. But Chrissa was not very sure about coming and made every excuse she could think of.
“Oh Lauren I’d love to go, but…,” said Chrissa.
“But what?” interrupted Lauren.
“But I have a lot of sewing and knitting to do,” said Chrissa.
But Lauren wanted her to go. She said, “But the queen said you could go if you wanted.”
Chrissa finally agreed to go. “Well, okay!”
Then Lauren told her what she would need: “You will need a dress.”
“Check!” said Chrissa.
“A bow,” said Lauren
“Check!” said Chrissa.
“Shoes,” said Lauren
“Check!” said Chrissa.
“And makeup,” said Lauren.
But Chrissa didn’t have any! “Uh, Lauren, I don’t have makeup!”
Lauren started thinking “Umm…” Then said, “You can use mine!”
Chrissa was happy now. She said, “Okay”
Just then Julia came in. “Lauren?”
“Yes,” said Lauren
“Your guests are here,” said Julia.
Lauren and Chrissa went downstairs. Lauren welcomed them: “Hi Cathy, Emma, and Katie! This is Chrissa, she is one of our maids.”
They all sat down and had tea. “This tea is wonderful!” said Cathy.
“Thank you,” answered Lauren.
After tea they went outside. Chrissa, who has never really been outside, said “Can we go to the gardens?”
“Sure,” answered Lauren.
When they got to the gardens they met a girl named Iris.
“Why do you like flowers,” Cathy asked.
“Because they are so pretty,” answered Iris.
After chatting a bit, Katie asked, “Are there any Horses?”
Lauren answered, “Yes. Let’s go down to the stable.”
After saying goodbye to Iris, they started walking to the stable. When they got there they met a girl named Gabriella. Gabriella was very nice and asked, “Would you like to ride my horse Lucy?”
Katie quickly asked, “Can we Lauren?”
Lauren knew they had never ridden a royal horse before, so she said, “Sure! Why not?”
Then Emma had an idea, “Why don’t we all ride it?”
Everyone agreed. They all got on and headed down the road. Then all of a sudden Katie yelled, “Ahh!”
Everyone looked at her. Then Katie said, “Look out!”
Then they jerked to a stop. Gabriella then yelled, “Willow! What do you think you were doing? You could have bean killed!”
Willow who was scared and shocked answered, “Sorry guys. I was just teaching my chipmunks how to cross the road.”
Katie then looked at the ground and seeing the chipmunks she said, “Oh! They are so cute!”
Later that night Emma, Cathy, and Katie left. Then Lauren felt a cold breeze. Lauren knew winter was almost here. When she was changing into her nightgown, she found some new winter clothes in her wardrobe. The next morning Lauren woke up, put on a dress, and brushed her hair.
Then she went downstairs and had breakfast. Afterwards she went back to her room and when she opened her door she saw a girl. Lauren was quick to make friends, “Hi! You must be Dianne. The queen said you were coming.”
Dianne shyly answered, “Hi. It is nice to meet you princess.”
Lauren did not want her to think she was the boss so she quickly responded, “You can call me Lauren. The queen said we were going to have a Ball to celebrate.”
Dianne was very excited, “Oh thank you! You are very kind.”
Lauren was glad Dianne was happy, “You’re welcome Dianne. You can sleep with me if you don’t want to be alone in your own room.”
Dianne was very happy, “I would like that, Lauren.”
Then they started getting ready for the night ahead.

Once upon a time there lived a girl named Lauren. One day news from the king spread. The king’s daughter had moved away with her husband and the king and queen were lonely. The king ordered all the girls between 15 and 20 to come to the palace in their best dresses.
The king was going to pick the prettiest girl to be his new daughter. Lauren was sixteen. Lauren put on her best dress and walked toward the palace. The king picked Lauren.
Lauren went home and packed her things. She told her parents that the king said that they could vista anytime they wanted to. Then she kissed them goodbye.
The next morning Lauren went downstairs for breakfast. She sat down at the table. Then a maid came and gave her breakfast.
Lauren asked, “What is your name?”
The maid answered, “My name is Julia, princess.”
After breakfast Lauren went to the courtyard where she met a girl named Rachel.
Lauren asked, “What is your job Rachel?”
Rachel answered, “I tame wild horses then I put them in the stables where Felicity takes care of them.”
Lauren went to the stables and asked Felicity what her job was.
She said, “My job is to take care of the princess’ horses.”
Then Lauren felt her tummy growl. Luckily, it was lunchtime. After lunch Lauren heard trumpets. She followed the sound and when she found where it was coming from she saw the king and queen. The queen was lovely. She had strips of gold down her dress, brown hair, green eyes, and pink lips.
The queen asked Lauren, ”Would you like a tour of the castle?”
Lauren answered, “Yes.”
The queen said, “Lauren, you can call me mother now.”
Lauren answered, “Ok, mom.”
The queen showed Lauren the ballroom, tea room, the bedrooms, and the letter room. Thinking about letters reminded Lauren about her three old friends, Cathy, Emma, and Katy.
The queen said, “Why don’t you invite them to tea.”
Lauren said, “Ooooo, thank you!”
Lauren got a piece of paper and wrote:
Dear friends, I would like to invite you to tea. I really miss you and I would love it if you came. Love, your friend Lauren.
Lauren then called the paige and then the paige went off with the letter. Cathy, Emma, and Katy soon sent a letter back saying they were coming.
Soon the castle was in a bustle: all the maids were cooking, cleaning, and decorating. During that time Lauren met a new friend. Her name was Chrissa. Chrissa’s job was to make and patch up clothes, blankets, and other things made out of cloth.
Just then a fairy named Tinkerbell said a fairy named Rosetta wanted to see her. Lauren followed the fairy until she saw a little village. The fairy went into it and before Lauren could blink twice, Rosetta was in front of her.
Rosetta said, “All fairy’s will celebrate this day because you are the new princess.”
Then Rosetta went into the tiny town. Lauren went inside and ate dinner. While Lauren was changing, she remembered tomorrow was the royal tea party!
Yesterday we went to the Merry Christmas Tree Farm in Central, SC. It’s our family tradition.
We have done this for a number of years now. You can watch the video.
We first began getting our trees from a “neighborhood farm” when we lived in Peppertree.
Tristen was a “babe in arms” when we went out to this man’s home, in a nearby sub-division. He had a smallish house, with a postage stamp backyard.
In his backyard were about 40 trees. That’s where we first began cutting down our own trees. We did that twice at his home. It was great.
Sometime thereafter we heard about the Merry Christmas Tree Farm and began the one hour trek to Central. One year we forgot when they opened and upon arriving found that they were closed.
That year we went to a neighboring farm. Otherwise, we’ve always gone to the Merry Christmas Tree Farm. It’s our favorite place. Usually we go on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Clemson vs. South Carolina football game is always blaring through their speakers on the farm.
This year we went on Friday, which was far better–not because of the ballgame blaring. The traffic was not as bad going to Central and it gave us an extra day to trim the tree.
This year was especially special. We bought two trees, one big one for downstairs and a smaller one for the upstairs landing. This is “Haydn’s tree.” He really wanted a small tree for upstairs so he could put his stuffed animals under it.
It looks pretty cool.
I let him pick it out. He covered the farm, looking at hundreds of trees until he found the perfect one. It was quite a ways from our van and the netting machine. I tied a twine string to the trunk and he pulled it all the way to the netting machine. Amazing.
His tree was on the “lower forty,” which meant he had to drag it up a very long hill.
We also made it a party this year. Some of the members from our small group came with us. We all met there at 11:30AM. Each family cut their tree and we took pictures and shot a video. Altogether, we bought five trees as a group–plus one friend of the group came too, and bought a tree.
We had our usual hot chocolate, candy canes, and each kid got a Charlie Brown tree. They have a surplus of Charlie Brown trees on one side of the farm. They give these away. We took ten of them. (See pic above.)
It was a wonderful blast, probably one of the best times we ever had. I already can’t wait until next year when we can go again.
We prayed for the kind folks at the farm that they will sell many trees this year. They are a wonderful family.
And a plus this year: the weather could not have been better. It was between 65 and 70 degrees, a gorgeous foothills of SC weather.
Tree Tip: They also sell Christmas Tree bags. That’s a plus. You don’t want to forget that. We placed our tree in the stand, and then put the tree and stand in the bag.
When we’re done with the tree after Christmas, we pull the bag up around the tree to tote it out of the house. That keeps the dreaded pine needles from getting all over the house.
If you did not get a copy of my first ever and second newsletter, you can find them here. I made my first neighborhood newsletter last week and just finished my second one today. I passed them out in the neighborhood, but wanted to put them here for you just in case you didn’t get one.
Once upon time, there was a little girl named Julia. Her parents were not nice parents, (well, some parents are like that). The child followed her parents actions. Now, every girl dreams of getting married and raising a family, (I dream about that a lot) well this girl dreamed of that too, but she did not think about her attitude. So, when she was older she went to college, she met a really handsome boy named James. She and James started spending time together. Julia started realizing how James was treating her……….in kindness, and love. Julia knew if she wanted to get married and raise a family she had to be nice and loving to fall in love. Julia started acting like James, and then James noticed her, and they started dating. Then soon James met her parents. Her parents watched them, and listened to them, and they changed the way they were acting. Then soon James asked Julia if she would marry him. She said ” Yes”. They were soon married, and lived happily ever after! This is the way I think of it, I think of their wedding as a party for becoming a follower of Christ, and a wedding for the new couple.
Throughout the week I have heard that a lot of people are sick. For example, almost everybody in our small group is sick, or has germs. Nearly everyone in my Awana class knows someone that’s sick. One of my friends said her sister was in the hospital and they don’t know what is wrong with her. My dad said there is some kind of disease passing around. I hope everyone that is sick will be well soon. People are praying for the sick ones.

Far, far, away in a magical land there lived a princess. The princess was so beautiful she looked like a angel. The people in the kingdom said, “She is the prettiest girl I have ever seen.” The princess was named Fiona. The princess loved flowers. Princess Fiona had a flower meadow; all the flowers could grant one wish! When Fiona was four there was one wishing flower; she wished there were more wishing flowers.
One day some of her friends came to visit. Their names were Peter, John, & Smith. Fiona & her friends were playing in the flower meadow. Peter was thinking of a wish. He wished he was a knight. Suddenly he was dressed in armor. While Fiona was holding the flower, John & Smith reached out and took hold of it. Fiona wished she was locked in a tower. Suddenly, she found herself locked in a tower with John & Smith! Peter said, “Uh, oh.” Peter was brave & funny as he rescued his friends.
On Fiona’s 16th birthday her mother celebrated by inviting some princes & princesses. Fiona fell in love with prince Edward. The next morning the Queen took Fiona & Edward to Honeymoon Park. “Fiona when I married your father, my mother told me this: ‘When your daughter falls in love she must get married the day after she falls in love’. That’s why today is your wedding day.” Fiona & Edward were married, & they lived happily ever after!
It is very important to help the earth. I can’t understand why people cut down more trees for wood, when they could just use the wood laying around. I don’t understand why people like spending their money on air when you could just go outside & breath the fresh clean air. The people on earth need trees to live. When you plant a tree, & you water it, soon it will give you a gift back of fresh clean air. So this summer go outside & plant a tree or gather your friends & so you can collect garbage throw it away, please help the earth this summer. Please help me keep this wonderful world clean.
